Hurricane Electric (AS6939) has upgraded its presence on the FD-IX Indianapolis fabric to a full 100G port. It’s a direct response to sustained traffic growth as well as the need for consistent, high-capacity interconnection in the region.

For FD-IX members, if you’re already peered with AS6939, you now have more capacity available without changing your config. If you’re not, this is a good reminder. A single BGP session can now ride a much wider pipe, which is often the simplest latency and cost optimization you can make. FD-IX members can receive a smaller section of Hurricane's routes over the route servers but also have the option to do a direct peer and receive more routes over the fabric. Don't forget IPv6 too.

This upgrade is also a signal. Indianapolis is no longer a “secondary” interconnection point. Traffic patterns, content demand, and regional growth are pushing serious capacity into the market. Networks that treat it like a core location will have an advantage. Those that don’t will keep hauling bits somewhere else and paying for the privilege.

The FD-IX Indy fabric just got faster. #keeptrafficlocal #wherenetworksmeet
